Harris County and Houston’s stay-at-home order is currently extended through May 20, 2020. However, Governor Abbott lifted the statewide stay-at-home order on May 1, 2020. Abbott’s order allows many businesses to start reopening under specific restrictions and guidelines.
According to an article by ABC13 KTRK News, traffic has spiked since Abbott’s order went into effect. Within the first couple days of the lifted order, five people were killed in traffic accidents in Harris County. Houston Police Department (HPD) officials confirmed that three of those accidents were related to alcohol and/or drugs.
